The World We Live In

We live in a world where dishonesty is rewarded, where power is taken by the vicious and the brutal and where the incompetent and uncaring prosper.
We are ruled by pompous people who cloak ambition and greed in stolen power and glory but accept no responsibility for justice.
No one cares any more about what is right.
No one cares about the poor, the meek, the gentle and the kind. No one cares about the innocent.
We applaud and reward the fat businessmen who cheat the world’s poor.
We have dirtied our land and polluted our air and our water. We live in a filth of our own making, a filth that contaminates our very lives.
And yet everyone claims to be innocent in all the corruption, the misery, the viciousness, the cruelty and the horrors of our world.

Have They Forgotten?

I despise those snotty patronising bastards who think that the uniform they wear or the job they do entitles them to treat everyone else like shit.
I abhor inconsiderate, smug, self-satisfied bastards who assume that they can treat the poor, the fearful and the uncertain with disdain.
The average public servant needs to be reminded that the nervous citizen asking for his help is paying his inflated wages.
We pay public servants to look after us, to protect us and to make our lives more comfortable.
Most of them have forgotten what the phrase “public servant” really means.

The Selfish Machine

Do not look for any help or hope from the Tories.
All that they offer is a change of faces without any alteration of policy.
They are merely a greedy, selfish machine for getting cabinet posts for
their mates and sons of the rich.
Anyone who votes for them in the hope of reform is either deluded or stupid, or both.

I Need A Baby

Why are teenage girls having sex so young?
Why are they having it without using precautions?
And why, if they do become pregnant, are they not having the abortions that – for good or bad – are freely available.
These teenage mums are not the bright young hopes of the middle classes. These are girls from the inner-city sink-estates who believe that their future will be as bleak as their past.
At home, in poverty and carelessness, these teenagers won’t be fed the nutrition of books, learning and ambition. At school it won’t be much better.
They will learn that, like their mothers and sisters before them, nothing awaits save failure and drudgery.
A baby gives them a plaything of their very own, which they have been so long without. A baby gives them a reason to get up in the morning, which they have never had before. A baby gives them unconditional love, a luxury beyond their wildest dreams.
We know the misery in store for them and their children, we know that these girls have been let down, time and again, by a system that refuses to invest in a change for their better.
The girls, in their own misguided way, are actually trying to give themselves some simple purpose.

None Of Us Are Alone

We are none of us alone.
Even as we exhale it is inhaled by others.
The light that shines on us shines on our neighbour as well.
In this way, we are connected to our friend even as we are connected to our enemy.

Man’s Lifespan

Parts of the Bible refer to people who lived for hundreds of years. There are two theories. One says human beings cannot live for hundreds of years and that ages given in The Book of Genesis are based on a confusion between lunar and solar time, turning months into years.
So when the Bible says that Methuselah lived to the age of 969, it really meant about 80, which seems to make more sense. On the other hand, various men in Genesis became fathers in their sixties, which would make them five years old.
The other theory is that man’s lifespan was altered by God after the flood. In chapter 6 of Genesis, we are told that our days will number 120 years, but that was after the flood and all the really old men lived before it.

Violence Against Women

Violence against women causes more deaths and disability among women aged 19 – 44 than cancer or traffic accidents.
There are more than 12 million incidents of domestic abuse against women each year in the UK.
Two women are killed in England and Wales each week by a current or former partner.
The majority of battered women have significantly higher IQ’s than their men. This means that in a verbal argument she will always win. Frustrated, he lashes out to restore his position as master.
Men that strike or abuse women are nasty vicious bullying cowards.

It’s Nice To Have……..

It’s nice to have possessions,
Money, and some shares.
The fault lies in believing
All happiness lies there.

The Land Of Smiles

Thailand is the place I want to be
The place that made me feel so free
I long to be back on its shores
So I can forget my cares once more
In the day life goes so slow
And in the night you let it flow
When the sun shines on my face
I really think I’ve found my place
And at night when I lie on the beach
My mind wanders out of reach
The land of smiles, but so many miles
Can anything else feel this good
If it could I wish it would.

The Future Of The World

We must be ambitious for our children.
We must give them the chance to be everything they can be.
And we must do that by teaching them decency by example.
Not just for their futures, but for the future of the world too.
Think about the kind of world you want your children to live and work in. Demand that their teachers teach your children what they need to know to build this world.
A world of honesty, kindness, morality and dignity.
Our interest should be in the future, because our children are going to spend the rest of their life there.
