Injunctions, Like Cosmetic Surgery, Are All About Vanity

The more I read about Ryan Giggs, the more I think we should rename him Ryanair on the grounds that he’s cheap, unreliable, offers no frills, can be triple-booked and dumps you in the wilderness after promising to go all the way.
Injunctions, like cosmetic surgery, are all about vanity.
About wanting the world to see a false image of you.
It came as no shock to find Ryan Giggs has been receiving baldness treatment for two years, but we didn’t hear a tweet about it.
Wayne Rooney may be seen as Satan’s sperm to those who detest the rise of overpaid, uncouth chavs.
He’s faced bile for being the worst kind of role model for boys but at least, when his private actions were about to be outed, he’s held his hands up.

The Men Who Fought In Korea Deserve To Be Remembered

More British troops died in the Korean War than in the Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
The Korean conflict is in danger of becoming our forgotten war, and it shouldn’t be, not only because of the palpable good it achieved but also because the fighting was of an intensity which, thankfully, no war has matched since.
Without the Korean War, a prosperous nation of nearly 50 million would be living in near slavery in the grim north.
The men who fought with the UN force deserve to be remembered better than they currently are.

Someone Stole My Mate’s Dog

Every year in the UK cats kill 55 million birds, 200 million mammals and ten million reptiles and amphibians.

Someone stole my mate’s dog last week.
He doesn’t know who it was yet but he says he has a couple of leads.

Other people’s dogs are like other people’s children, never quite as delightful as our own.

Staggering Rise In STIs

For the past few years the Health Protection Agency, which monitors infectious diseases in Britain, has been warning about the staggering rise in Sexually Transmitted Infections among middle-aged men and women.
It’s latest figures show Chlamydia infections have increased by nine per cent in the past year, and by 138 per cent since 2001.
Genital herpes is up 15 per cent in the past year and 142 per cent in ten years, while gonorrhea is up eight per cent in one year and 14 per cent since 2001.
Cases of genital warts, caused by human papillomavirus, which is linked to a range of cancers, have risen by 62 per cent in the past ten years and by three per cent in the past year.
And the diseases themselves are becoming more ferocious.
Swedish scientists have announced the discovery of a strain of gonorrhea that has become resistant to antibiotics.
Of course, in numbers, infections among young adults and men who have sex with men are still far greater.
But STIs do not discriminate between 16 or 60-year-olds.

What Do They Say When Two Men Get Married?

The police asked my mate why he keeps beating his wife.
My mate told them it’s because of his superior footwork, longer reach and hand speed.

I saw a shoplifter being arrested by an albino policeman.
I thought to myself: “That’s a fair cop”.

How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

When two people marry, they say, “You may kiss the bride”.
What do they say if two men get married?

What do you do when you see an endangered animal eating an endangered plant?

Believe In Yourself

It’s so easy to hate, but it takes guts and courage to be gentle and kind.

Success is not about the background you come from.
It is about the confidence you have and the effort you invest.
Your past does not determine your future.
You just have to work hard. That’s it.
Push yourself. Believe in yourself.
(Michelle Obama)

All the good advice in the world will never penetrate a closed mind.

Anti-Drugs Strategy Is A Failure

HM Revenue & Customs cannot effectively stop imports, police cannot stop sales, and health warnings cannot deter their use.
Our anti-drugs strategy is a failure on every level.
It makes international criminals rich and youngsters who get hooked poor.
Which is why the Government is burying its head in the sand to pretend it has an adequate drugs policy.

A Shock For An Old Rock Star

I get up at 6am which is a shock for an old rock star, we normally don’t get up till the sun goes down, we’re like vampires.
(David Essex)

I abhor that media pressure to be ‘Fashionably skinny’ is affecting people’s mindset, particularly the younger generation, many of whom obsess about being an impossible weight.
(Lindsay Russell)

I care a lot about my work.
I’m just not someone who concentrates on my career.
I think that’s a very boring way of looking at things.

600 Young People In The UK Commit Suicide Every Year

600 young people in the UK aged 15 to 24 commit suicide each year.
That’s nearly 12 every week.
Girls are twice as likely to suffer from depression as boys – although depressed boys are more likely to attempt suicide.
