At Least One Pub Is Shutting Every Day In The UK

Pubs, clubs and restaurants have surrendered 5,700 alcohol licences in the past year.
The figure is up 13% on the previous year and more than double the figure for 2007.
At least one pub shut every day last year.
The government’s sneaky stealth tax on pubs risks forcing yet more to call time.
Slyly increasing the cost of licences is a low blow when it is already tough enough to run a local boozer.
The tax raid threatens to accelerate pub closures that are ripping the heart out of housing estates and villages across the country.
The Tories in Whitehall have no idea how ordinary people live their lives or how tough it is for businesses.
If ministers won’t do anything to help save pubs, is it too much to ask them to get out of the way and stop hurting them?
