Welcome To Con Country

I just wish people would stop telling me that everything is getting better.
( Peter Hitchens )

You can’t always change how others treat you or what they say about you.
But you can change how you react to it.
( Rose Winfold )

I don’t mean to be cocky, but nobody would want to fight me.
( Zoe Saldana )

I slept several times as a kid in a bar on the pool table with a jacket as a pillow.
( Dimitri Verhulst )

I can still remember happier times when the Liberal Democrats were nothing more than a pointless rabble made up of no-hope, hobby politicians cruising the backwaters of Britain, stirring up apathy and spouting inane drivel.
( Richard Lloyd )

I spent most of my childhood running around naked in the middle of nowhere in Australia.
( Abbie Cornish )

Only a mind that is already enslaved would choose a master.
( Rose Winfold )

I like men who are tough but also very fragile.

Mr Cameron would guillotine the Queen in Trafalgar Square if he thought it would keep him in office.
( Peter Hitchens )

I feel that when a man allows himself to accept failure, that’s when he’s at his strongest.
( Zoe Saldana )

I’m very happy I married a Geordie.
My husband is a very cool, easy-going guy.
( Milla Jovovich )

For most of the hard-working population of Britain, our system of Government has become a vast engine of confiscation.
At every turn we are hammered by brutal taxes.
Our workplace earnings are savaged by income tax, our household bills crippled by VAT and our homes burdened with council tax.
Out on the road we are punished by extortionate fuel duties.
In the air we are hit by passenger duties.
Yet there is little sign of this grand larceny ending soon.
( Leo McKinstry )

I don’t get messed around by anyone, especially not guys.
( Avril Lavigne )

I can’t bear men who are constantly aware of themselves and their looks.
( Milla Jovovich )

Welcome to Con country, a nation where every week the gulf widens between the have-nots and the have-yachts.
( Kevin Maguire )

I drive the worlds sexiest car.
I bought myself a Lexus CT 200H, the ‘Kylie Quiet’ car, in obsidian black.
People don’t think of hybrid cars as particularly sexy.
But this one is chic as it gets. Worth every penny of the £27,500 it cost me.
I’m no petrol head. I’m not the kind of person who gets all excited at the sight of a car. I’ve been out with a guy who owned this very expensive Ferrari. Everyone would stop and look at it in wonderment. To me it was just another car.
The Lexus is the very first car I’ve fallen in love with.
( Lisa Snowdon )

This Tory-led Government is a hobbling disaster and, sooner or later, Britons will wake up to what is being done in their name.
( Daily Mirror )

I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.
( Edgar Allan Poe )

I am not young enough to know everything.
( Oscar Wilde )

The contemptible ConDem strategy is to persuade working people the enemy is the jobless family next door.
While the filthy rich behind their high walls get away with financial murder.
( Kevin Maguire )

My bottom is not insured for a billion dollars, and I don’t spend hours fixating on it.
( Jennifer Lopez )

I am still buying Clearasil spot cream for teenagers.
When I stop needing that maybe I will start worrying about ageing.
( Tara Palmer-Tomkinson )

When you’re short of money in your household budget, you cut down or strike non-essentials from your shopping list.
The task for the Government is much the same.
Cut out all non-essential spending of taxpayers’ money on items such as foreign aid, unnecessary wars and, of course, subsidising restaurants and bars at Westminster.
When you think about it, the list is endless.
( Tom Parry )

Persecuting a minority of large families on benefits is a smokescreen.
( Kevin Maguire )

Never tell your secret to anyone.
If you can’t keep it to yourself, don’t expect others to.
( Rose Winfold )

Victoria Beckham is the funniest person you’ll ever meet.
She’s my friend, because she can make me laugh so hard.
( Jennifer Lopez )

I learned to drive at the age of 12 and I’m still obsessed with cars.
My dad taught me to drive our old truck and I just used to career around the place.
Where I come from kids can drive when they’re ten years old and no one thinks anything of it. I love to drive, I love speed and I love blasting out music and just pelting off on my own.
( Abbie Cornish )

The Tory-led coalition needs to show some courage by supporting rather than punishing the British people.

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m Possible’.
( Audrey Hepburn )

My tastes are simple. I am easily satisfied with the best.
( Winston S Churchill )

I generally avoid temptation unless I can’t resist it.
( Mae West )

The best journeys are the unplanned ones. Nothing beats a random car ride.
There’s a great sense of freedom in simply jumping into your motor and heading off into the unknown. In November 2010 I drove from Casablanca to Essaouira in Morocco with a friend and it was the most idyllic journey.
Learning to drive was one of my greatest accomplishments.
I only got round to it 18 months ago at the age of 38.
It was something that looked as if it would never happen.
My not being able to drive had become a family in-joke.
My problem was that I didn’t trust myself. I’m naturally quite scatty.
In LA, where everyone drives from the age of 16, they would assume there was something wrong with me. So I decided it was time to tick it off my list of things to do. I passed first time.
( Lisa Snowdon )

I love sleep. My life has the tendency to fall apart when I’m awake.
