Ferocious, Flying, Eating Machines ..
Bats are the only true flying mammals in the UK.
There are 17 species and they all eat insects.
Ninety per cent of the bats seen in the UK are either the common or soprano pipistrelle.
They weigh the same as a sheet of A4 paper, and will eat around 3,000 mosquitos and insects in one night.

They are ferocious, flying, eating machines.
They won’t suck your blood, and they are not blind.
Bats have been a natural pest control for our gardens and fields and crops for thousands of years.

I am completely opposed to vivisection on dogs and other animals on science and welfare grounds.
Strapping dogs into harnesses and pumping them full of chemicals is poor science and a terrible reflection of a nation which likes to think of itself full of animal lovers.

It’s not a matter of “can they think like us” but “can they suffer?”
They are individuals too.

Most people, when driving, will brake and do their best to avoid hitting a dog or a cat, or even a fox or a deer.
Most people will rant and rave at reports of hunters killing lions and elephants.
Most people will condemn the Asian countries that kill and eat dogs and cats.
Yet most people are quite happy supporting and paying for other people to cut the throats of ‘farm’ animals, many of them just baby animals, just so they can satisfy their taste buds.
Calling ‘most’ people hypocrites doesn’t even come close.

Wildlife Is In Steep Decline ..
Britain was full of wildlife and birdsong.
But suddenly that wildlife paradise changed.

Farmers got out their chemical sprays, gamekeepers produced their traps, and shooting men shot at anything that moved.
Animals of farmland, woodland and moorland are still in steep decline.
Political correctness has now crept into the world of conservation and is helping to kill the countryside.
Conserving our beautiful countryside should be about using common sense, not political correctness.

These conservationists talk of nature finding its own ‘natural balance’.
What they forget, or fail to understand, is that the whole landscape of modern Britain is unnatural.
Wilderness has disappeared and the hand of man dominates.

Having grown up with a restless, wandering beagle called Rufus, I can vouch for what inquisitive, naughty little characters they are.
The thought of them being penned in cages and force-fed agricultural chemicals, or having toxic substances pumped into their veins, which make them so sick that they die in agony, is unbearable.

Wasps Make Their Own Antibiotics ..
Wasps are able to create a sophisticated combination of antibiotics to protect their larvae from infection, scientists found.
The Max Planck Institute in Jena, Germany, found the digger wasp co-exists with a bacteria and uses it to make nine antibiotics.
Scientist Martin Kaltenpoth said, “It could lead to the discovery of interesting new drug candidates for human medicine”.

How can any human beings with any compassion think It’s acceptable to do this to another sentient being?
They’re not a disposable commodity so please stop this barbaric unnecessary practice.

Piglets are castrated without any anaesthetic or pain relief.
Their tails are amputated without any anaesthetic or pain relief.
Their teeth are extracted without any anaesthetic or pain relief.
The ‘farmers’ and the ‘meat’ industry would like to thank all the people who support the abuse and violence and torture we inflict on baby animals.

Why am I vegan?
Violence and torture doesn’t taste good to me.

The Torture Of Moon Bears ..
About 4,000 endangered moon bears are kept in tiny cages in Vietnam.
They are left with agonising wounds after being repeatedly cut open with a syringe so their bile, which is thought to have medicinal properties, can be extracted.

I am appalled by plans to breed puppies in windowless sheds, destined to die in crude and unreliable experiments, when the Government has pledged to reduce the number of animals used in research.
( Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio Presenter )

Most people don’t want to know, don’t want to think about it, and don’t want to see where their ‘meat’ comes from and how it’s ‘processed’.

Animals Tortured In The Name Of Science ..
Good, decent people are sickened and saddened by the way our governments allow so-called tests and experiments on the animals and creatures we share this planet with.
They inflict pain, suffering, fear, misery and death on innocent creatures in the name of science.
And they do so because animals are weak and vulnerable and cannot speak.
This tells us everything about the cretins who work in these torture chambers and those who give them permission to carry out the torture.
They are cruel, they are disgusting, they are evil, they are without conscience, and they shame mankind.
They should carry out their perverted practises on each other.
( Rose Winfold )

Animals have rights.
And the most important right is the right to be here, to live safe and free, just like us.

“Thou shalt not kill” does not apply to murder of one’s own kind only, but to all living beings; and this Commandment was inscribed in the human breast long before it was proclaimed from Sinai.

The Rapid Extinction Of Animal And Plant Life ..
Scientists have warned the future of mankind is at risk from the rapid extinction of animal and plant life.
An alarming United Nations report (May 2010) revealed countries have failed to hit targets to stop nature’s mass decline.
It found mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians and fish plummeted by a third between 1970 and 2006.
On top of this, experts fear nearly a quarter of plant species are now dying out.
With the world’s population continuing to spiral, it is feared the loss of nature will deplete food supplies, fresh water and medicines while sending poverty soaring.
The Global Biodiversity Outlook-3 report found more than 60 livestock breeds have gone extinct since 2000.

I don’t eat animals because I understand I have no right or authority to inflict pain and suffering on another living being.

Humans communicate with words and noise.
Animals communicate with their heart and their soul.

Imagine being so fragile, you get offended by people who choose not to hurt, kill or eat animals.

Non-Native Animals Living In The UK ..
Anteaters, scorpions and parrots are living wild in the UK.
A study of sightings of non-native animals shows about 40,000 ring-necked parakeets and about 13,000 scorpions live in south-east England – and 10 anteaters in Cumbria.

The day my heart spoke louder than my stomach, I stopped eating meat and my life changed forever.

You don’t understand why we speak out for animal cruelty?
We don’t understand why you are so comfortable with it.

Farm Animals Are Now Recognised As Sentient Beings ..
Farm animals are now recognised in European law as sentient beings – capable of feeling pain and suffering.
Cramped stalls for pregnant sows have been banned in the UK since 1999, and their use is now restricted across the EU.

But European animal transport laws need strengthening and proper enforcement.
And simple, basic animal welfare protection is still needed in so many parts of the world.
Crushed together, clambering on top of each other.
Many animals are injured and some may even be trampled to death.
The sheer number of bodies inside the lorries can make the temperature rise unbearably.

A recent investigation measured blistering temperatures of up to 58degC in trucks delayed for hours at the border between the EU and Turkey.
Animals can collapse or even die from heat exhaustion in these conditions.
Access to food and water is often inadequate or non-existent.
Desperate animals are driven to eat soiled and filthy bedding, and lick the condensation-drenched walls in an attempt to quench their thirst.
At the end of their long journey, many animals may be too exhausted or ill to move.
Compassion in World Farming’s Investigation Team has witnessed weak or injured animals being beaten and kicked, or simply left to die in the dirt.
( Compassion in World Farming )

Do you really feel so important that another living being should have to suffer and die for you?

Animals are not here to serve us.
They should be free, just as we expect to be free.

The ceaseless and the relentless breeding of gentle animals for the sole purpose of killing them is evil beyond belief.
It is heartless, cruel, perverted, sickening, repulsive, twisted, disgusting, vile, and depraved.

( Rose Winfold )

Animal abuse is the only injustice that people want advocated for quietly, the only injustice where abusers ask that you respect their right to abuse.

Elephants Killed With Cyanide ..
Poachers in Zimbabwe have killed more than 300 elephants and countless other safari animals by cyanide poisoning.
The full extent of the carnage in Hwange, the country’s largest national park, has been revealed by legitimate hunters who discovered what conservationists said was the worst single massacre in southern Africa for 25 years.
Parts of the national park, which is visited by thousands of tourists each year, can be seen from the air to be littered with the corpses of elephants, often with their calves dead beside them, as well as those of other animals.
There is deep concern that the use of cyanide represents a new and devastating technique in the rapidly growing poaching trade.
Poachers killed the elephants over the past three months by planting buckets of water laced with cyanide in the sand.
Animals are drawn to them during the dry season in the already arid and remote south-eastern section of the 5,660-square mile park.
After the elephants died, often collapsing just a few yards from the source, lions, hyenas and vultures that fed on their carcasses were also struck down, as were other animals such as kudu and buffalo that shared the same water.
Conservationists say that habitat loss, conflict with humans and poaching means that on current trends the African elephant could die out in the wild within 50 years.
In 2011, at least 17,000 of the animals were killed for their tusks according to Cites, the international body that focuses on endangered species.
The United Nations says illegal ivory trade has more than doubled since 2007.

Safari Park Mistreating Animals (2010) ..
Woburn Safari Park, UK – owned by the Duke of Bedford – says its wildlife enjoy living in a “natural environment”.
But Defra inspectors found lions and tigers caged for hours in “unsafe” pens, turtles left for months in temporary tanks and sea lions kept in chlorinated water that caused eye ulcers and blindness.

The main reason people resist changing to a non-meat diet is because they focus on themselves and not the victims.
( Rose Winfold )

Humans are the problem, not the animals.
Humans have scorched and poisoned the land, polluted the air, the oceans and the rivers.
Humans have caused animals to become extinct because of selfishness and greed, destroying and killing for fun, sport, fur, skin, feathers and food.
If we held a moment of silence for every victim of human ignorance we would be silent for eternity.

If you think ‘farm’ animals deserve no more rights than a potato, you are either an idiot or a psychopath.

Bush Meat Is A Major Source Of Deadly Infection ..
Research has shown that primates, which make up just 0.5% of the animals on the planet, actually seed 20% of all infectious human viruses.
The main cause of the problem appears to originate from West Africa where humans eat the meat of infected chimpanzees.
Such bush meat is a major source of both nourishment and deadly infection.
While human hunters sell chimp carcasses at market, chimpanzees have also been known to grab children from the villages, kill and eat them – which can move human viruses back to the monkey population.
Villagers will butcher chimps in the open.

This provides microbes with the opportunity to jump back and forth between people and monkeys.
