Silence contributes to the suffering of others.
We must all speak out for those who are abused and persecuted.

Treating animals with respect is not only the right thing to do.
A life guided by compassion will make you feel fulfilled as a human being.
And that is the essence of happiness.
( Sharon Nunez )

Sometimes the difference between life and death is YOU.
Cats and dogs in animal shelters.
Adopt. Rescue. Foster.
Don’t walk away.

All life deserves respect, dignity, and compassion.
All life.

( Anthony Douglas Williams )

Keeping silent about cruelty, inflicted on humans or non-humans, is betrayal.

Dogs Suffer From Loneliness.
More than one in four dogs are depressed because they spend too much time on their own.
Vets advise dogs be left for no longer than four hours.
But 28% of pet owners in the UK thought it acceptable to leave a dog alone in the house for anything between six and 10 hours.
The PDSA survey of 31,500 owners suggests 2.3 million dogs are routinely left longer than recommended and 465,000 never go for walks.

Loneliness can lead to problem behaviour in dogs and more than 50% of PDSA vets reported having to put more dogs down due to such issues in the past two years.

My dog?
I treat him like a brother who simply has a different mother.

Any habit that causes the suffering and death of an innocent being is a habit that must be broken.
( James Aspey )

Treating living beings as mere products is at the heart of all that is wrong with humanity.

Regarding man’s harm to other animals, there are no reasons that are reasonable, and no excuses that are excusable.
None.

( Anthony Douglas Williams )

Animals belong in our hearts, not in our stomach.

We live in a twisted world where the murder of innocent animals is considered to be normal, and those who object to the unnecessary horrors are called extremists.

I can’t think of anything that makes me happier than seeing an animal’s contentment, witnessing a creature allowed to be who he wants to be in the world, and at peace.
It’s a thing of beauty.

( Jenny Brown )

Every choice you make either brings you closer to humanity, or further away.
All life matters.
Make a difference.

Don’t just be sorry.
Try and do something.

To deny an animal its right to self-determination, its right to live out its life as it chooses in its natural habitat, that is aggression.
It’s an aggression against the planet and all other sentient beings.

( James Cromwell )

As I watched the dog chasing his tail, I thought dogs are easily amused.
Then I realised I was watching the dog chasing his tail.

I love everything about New York City but the horse-drawn carriages.
It’s dangerous and cruel.
Aren’t we beyond this ridiculous tourist attraction?

( Kaley Cuoco )

The less harm you cause animals, the more peaceful your life becomes.

Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.
( Albert Einstein )

It’s easier to make fun of vegans than ‘meat’ eaters.
Because there’s nothing funny about killing innocent animals.

If we could read the minds of animals we would find only truths.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )

Humans claim to be the most intelligent animal, yet so many seem to think they are baby cows and need to drink the milk from mother cows.
Strange.

You can choose to look the other way, but you can never say again you didn’t know.

A horse and carriage belong on a deserted country road or in a small village, not in a big city filled with blaring noise, throngs of people, air pollution and fleets of taxis where accidents are inevitable.
( Adrien Brody )

We are their voice.
They can’t speak and plead for mercy themselves.

Don’t Ask Your Dog To Fetch Wooden Sticks.
Dog owners have been urged not to throw sticks for their pets to fetch after an increase in horrific injuries.
Top vet Grace Wester warned of the dangers after a collie called Maya got a 4inch piece of wood lodged in her throat.
Grace, president of the British Veterinary Association in Scotland, urged pet owners to use safer options such as rubber sticks, balls or frisbees.
She said, “Throwing sticks can lead to horrific injuries such as cuts to their mouths and tongues. Even when the initial wound is treated, splinters of wood have often got stuck and require subsequent operations.”

( Alex Diaz, 20.01.2016 )

Please Never Forget.
Please never forget I was a shelter dog.
All I need is a bit of time to adjust.
Have patience with me.
Everything is strange.

When I get to trust you, I will give you the greatest gift.
My heart and my unconditional love.

Sometimes, dogs make everything perfect.
( Florence Emily Hookins, 1896-1962 )

Do you hate bullying?
Do you hate violence?
That’s all that happens in a slaughterhouse.

I challenge the fairy tales about how happy the horses must be to dodge buses and taxis, with their noses in exhaust pipes day after day.
( Bill Maher )

Your “meat” was a gentle soul.

Was your meal really so good that it was worth the suffering and the death of another?

Flesh-eating is simply immoral, as it involves the performance of an act which is contrary to moral feeling, killing.
( Leo Tolstoy )

Imagine being born a prisoner on death row, for committing no crime at all, for just being you.
Welcome to the nightmare world of animals.

The indifference, callousness and contempt that so many people exhibit toward animals is evil first because it results in great suffering in animals, and second because it results in an incalculably great impoverishment of the human spirit.
All education should be directed toward the refinement of the individual’s sensibilities in relation not only to one’s fellow humans everywhere, but to all things whatsoever.

( Ashley Montague )

It Makes Us Animal Rather Than Human.
This is what humans want from animals and largely why and how they are most harmed.
We make them dead so we can live.
We make our bodies out of their bodies.
Their inanimate becomes our animate.
We justify it as necessary, but it is not.
We do it because we want to, we enjoy it, and we can.
We say they eat each other, too, which they do.
But this does not exonerate us.

It only makes us animal rather than human, the distinguishing methodology abandoned when its conclusions are inconvenient or unpleasant.
The place to look for this bottom line is the farm, the stockyard, the slaughterhouse..
I have yet to see one run by a non-human animal.
( Catherine Mackinnon )

Human beings have capitalised on the silence of animals, just as certain human beings have historically imposed silence on certain other human beings by denying slaves the right to literacy, denying women the right to own property, and denying both the right to vote.
( Gary Steiner )

If eating animals is a choice, then why choose to be cruel.

Do you really feel so important that another living being should have to suffer and die for you?

The only good cage is an empty cage.
But perhaps the most important lesson I learned is that there are no walls between humans and the elephants except those that we put up ourselves, and that until we allow not only elephants, but all living creatures their place in the sun, we can never be whole ourselves.
( Lawrence Anthony )

Some people say they love animals and yet harm them nonetheless.
I’m glad those people don’t love me.
( Marc Bekoff )

Psychopaths and sadists infest our planet, and the psychopaths and sadists in government support them.

Just like us, animals have one life.
And it’s not ours to take.

Love the animals.
God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled.
Don’t trouble it, don’t harass them of their happiness, don’t work against God’s intent.
( Fyodor Dostoyevsky )

All paths lie together in the hand of God like a web endlessly woven, and yours and mine are no greater or less than the beetle’s or the squirrel’s or the sparrow’s.
All are held together.
( Daniel Quinn )

The mental ability of so many people to ignore the violent abuse inflicted on animals by other people is beyond understanding.

Don’t ask me why I don’t eat animal corpses.
Ask yourself why.

I sometimes think that animals are incapable of the kinds of cruelty that humans willingly inflict on each other.
( Belinda Jeffrey )

Humanity’s true moral test, its fundamental test, consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy. Animals.
( Milan Kundera )

Animal Cruelty Is Linked To Crimes Against People.
On January 1, 2016, the FBI’s  National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) began collecting detailed data from participating law enforcement agencies on acts of animal cruelty, including gross neglect, torture, organised abuse, and sexual abuse.
Before, crimes that involved animals were lumped into an “All Other Offences” category in the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program’s annual Crime in the United States report, a survey of crime data provided by about 18,000 city, county, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies.
By adding animal cruelty offences to NIBRS, law enforcement agencies and the advocacy groups that pushed for the inclusion in the FBI database are hoping the results will reveal a more complete picture of the nature of cruelty to animals.
“Some studies say that cruelty to animals is a precursor to larger crime,” said Nelson Ferry, who works in the Bureau’s Criminal Statistics Management Unit, which manages NIBRS.
“That’s one of the items that we’re looking at.”
The National Sheriffs’ Association was a leading advocate for adding animal cruelty as a data set in the Bureau’s collection of crime statistics.
The association for years has cited studies linking animal abuse and other types of crimes, most famously, murders committed by serial killers like Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, and the “Son of Sam” killer David Berkowitz.
The organisation also points out the overlap animal abuse has with domestic violence and child abuse.

“If somebody is harming an animal, there is a good chance they also are hurting a human,” said John Thompson, deputy executive director of the National Sheriffs’ Association.
“If we see patterns of animal abuse, the odds are that something else is going on.”

This, for many people, is what’s most offensive about hunting.
To some, disgusting.
That it encourages, or allows, us not only to kill but to take a certain pleasure in killing.

( Michael Pollan )

I wish there were much tougher laws for the morons and the cowards who abuse and hurt animals.

We are breeding creatures incapable of surviving in any place other than the most artificial settings.
We have focused the awesome power of modern genetic knowledge to bring into being animals that suffer more.

( Jonathan Safran Foer )

Being vegan doesn’t mean you have to love animals, or go out your way to help animals.
It simply means you are committed to not harming them.

I am not well-versed in theory, but in my view, the cow deserves her life.
As does the ram.
As does the ladybug.
As does the elephant.
As do the fish, and the dog and the bee.
As do other sentient beings.

( Vincent J. Guihan )

Like us, animals are blessed with one life.
They too, could have made the most of it if we had given them a chance.

When we lose an animal species to extinction, we lose part of our family.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )

As long as there are laws and regulations that allow killing other living beings as part of a tradition or religious ritual, we are all at risk.

Killing Wildlife Animals Is A “Nugget Of Comfort”, Says A Tory.
The introduction of the Hunting Act is an attack on rural people by an urban majority.

In Devon, hunting is an activity that involves anyone and everyone.
For a lot of people I know, it’s the only nugget of comfort.

( Zac Goldsmith )
