The only thing worth stealing is a kiss from a sleeping child.

There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in.

The death of your parents is one of the most terrible things in life.
No one will ever love you again as they did.

Children are born optimists, and we slowly educate them out of their heresy.

Your mum will love you for ever, no matter what.
Don’t take her for granted.
You may not see it, but your harsh words will make her cry.
She will not always agree with you, but she will always love you.
It doesn’t matter how old she is, or how old you are, always treasure your mum.
You will never have another one.

When children sound silly, you will always find that it is in imitation of their elders.

Children, not knowing that they are having an easy time,
Have a good many hard times.

We should not make light of the troubles of children.
They are worse than ours, because we can see the end of our trouble and they can never see any end.

We can’t give our children the future, strive though we may to make it secure.
But we can give them the present.

Many a small drama is played within the hearts of children.
They suffer at being excluded from the too close intimacy of their parents.

I wonder if we who have grown up will ever know on this side of the grave how much we owe to children, who seem, but only seem, to owe us so much.

Children are warm and loving people who would rather please the adults in their life than upset them.
And who will, if properly approached, behave in a social and good way without having harsh discipline forced on them.

Children need your time, lots of love. And not the material things of life.

People with bad consciences always fear the judgement of children.

A fairly bright child is far more intelligent and far better company than the average adult.

These Women Appear To Be Everywhere.
These women appear to be everywhere at the moment, often with their equally miserable husbands.
They’re the parents who like to tell the world, or anybody else who will listen, that they find their children a massive inconvenience, and who go out of their way to avoid them at all costs.
They’re the kind of parents who’ll come up to you at some party or in the pub and start banging on about how their life would be so much more fun if they didn’t have children and how their offspring are a bit annoying, and don’t like the same sort of holidays as them, or the same films, and always want them to play with them, and always want their attention.

These lard-arse, selfish parents will wonder why their children grow up to hate them.
True parents love their children more than life itself.

Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded.

The best things you can give children, next to good habits, are good memories.

A child is not a vase to be filled, but a fire to be lit.

Children are not property, they are people.
Precious individuals worthy of love and respect.
Comfort them and treat them kindly.
Teach them wisely.
Correct them gently when they do wrong.
Love them unconditionally.

It is as cruel to bore a child as to beat him.

No one who has ever brought up a child can doubt for a moment that love is literally the life-giving fluid of human existence.

I do not love him because he is good, but because he is my little child.

Family dysfunction rolls down from generation to generation.
Until one wise person in one generation has the courage to turn and face the flames, that person brings peace to their ancestors and spares the children that follow.

Children are always the only future the human race has.

The best way to give advice to your children is to find out what they want, and then advise them to do it.

A child, like your stomach, doesn’t need all you can afford to give it.

It is difficult to give children a sense of security unless you have it yourself.
If you have it, they catch it from you.

It is a grim old world, and I think one has need of children to keep one’s faith clear and one’s hope bright.
One cannot think too evilly of a world in which one’s sons and daughters are to live.
For their sake one must try not only to make it better but to think it good.

The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.

A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty.

What’s done to children, they will do to society.

I learnt two things as a child.
Firstly, not to sneeze when you’re hiding.
And never to smile when you’re fibbing.

I just want to be rich enough to buy all the things my mum deserves.

I don’t want my children to follow in my footsteps.
I want them to take the path next to me and go further than I could have ever dreamt possible.

Behind a lot of good children is a step-parent who stepped up, stepped in and gave a shit.

I must warn you.
I have a crazy Grandma.

And I’m not afraid to use her.

There’s nothing like a grandchild to put a smile on your face.
Joy in your soul, and love in your heart.

We are the proud parents of a child who has resisted his teachers’ attempts to break his spirit and bend him to the will of his corporate masters.
