Think occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight.
( Albert Schweitzer )

Being sympathetic to animal rights is just something that came very naturally to me.
Perhaps because I used to have dogs growing up, and you know they became part of the family.
And it never occurred to me growing up.
I never put the whole thing of animal cruelty and that together as a youngster.
But the moment I began to understand what was going on with the treatment of animals, it led me more and more in the way of the path I am on now, which is a complete vegan.

( Bryan Adams )

Animals don’t beg for mercy with words, they beg with their eyes and their screams.
They beg for mercy in their own language, a language we humans refuse to understand.

Those who knowingly harm other animals are likely to knowingly harm other people.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )

I have never been abused or beaten or tortured or betrayed by an animal.
I wish I could say the same for people.

Whenever I see a photograph of some sportsman grinning over his kill, I am always impressed by the striking moral and aesthetic superiority of the dead animal to the live one.
( Edward Abbey )

My dog is part of my family.
I do not consider myself his owner.
I love him.
He is my friend.

I am his guardian.

Why is it that psychopaths are allowed to profit from torturing and killing animals that belong to the Earth?

In a world of abundance greed is a choice.
Imagining that it is acceptable to use animals as things.
Assets, food, clothing, experiments, and entertainment.

Those who harm the harmless are capable of harming anyone or anything.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )

Scientists have finally concluded that the chicken came before the egg because the protein which makes egg shells is only produced by hens.

Even the bravest of animals have some fear, but it is not enough to stop them from moving in the path they are destined to walk upon.

The man who kills the animals today is the man who kills the people who get in his way tomorrow.
( Dian Fossey )

Hide me in the shadows.
Kill me in the darkness, a
nd all will be forgotten.
But shine a light upon my death, and I will be everywhere.
And justice will be my name.

We need more people to fight for animal rights.
Good people who care and acknowledge that all living beings may be different but are equal.

What a tawdry little ritual this is.
There’s nothing noble about this, this isn’t part of our heritage at all.
I don’t believe this argument that the people who are hunters are those who are concerned about animal husbandry.
This has nothing to do with a love of animals.
This has nothing to do with a love of the countryside.
It’s disgusting.

( Tony Robinson )

We are brainwashed by society to not only eat animals but to ignore their suffering.

Time spent with an animal is always time well spent.

The industrial production of livestock takes away more resources than producing any other food.
( Mark Bittman )

If what’s on your dinner plate came from the slaughterhouse, then it’s not your food, it’s your victim.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better.
It’s not.

( Dr Seuss )

He cannot fight the hands that take him from his mother or speak to us in human words, telling us how deeply it hurts.
But it is obvious to anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear.
For us to ignore the suffering, is to ignore and deny our own decency.

( Will Tuttle )

Compassion is a living, breathing, organic emotion that vibrates through you and links you to those around you.
( Deepak Chopra )

Be the person your dog thinks you are.
( J.W. Stephens )

If God had wanted us to abuse and kill His animals, and use them for fur, entertainment and food, surely He would not have given them emotions and allowed them to feel pain and fear.
( Alfred Hookins, 1892-1956 )

One of the most disturbing and disgusting curses in the world today are the evil cowards that hide behind religion and culture and custom and tradition and use the name of God to excuse and to justify the murder of innocent people and the slaughter of gentle animals.
( Rose Winfold )

Like humans, a cow only produces milk during pregnancy.
Like humans, she carries her child for nine months.
When the calf is born, if it is a male, he is taken from her.
He will never drink his mother’s milk.
Heartbroken, the mother cries for weeks after.

Animals have few rights, but they have every right to be here.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )

The biggest divide in the world today is not religion or politics.
It’s between people who care and people who don’t care.
( Eileen Hutchison, 1926-2008 )

We know we cannot be kind to animals until we stop exploiting them.
Exploiting animals in the name of science, exploiting animals in the name of sport, exploiting animals in the name of fashion, and yes, exploiting animals in the name of food.

( César Chávez )

If possessing a higher degree of intelligence does not entitle one human to use another for his or her own ends, how can it entitle humans to exploit non-humans?
( Peter Singer )

Just because they were born a pig, or a cow, or a sheep, or a chicken, it’s legal to do them harm.

If you wouldn’t want someone to hurt you, why do you think it’s okay to hurt animals?

Human beings are a part of the animal kingdom, not apart from it.
The separation of “us” and “them” creates a false picture and is responsible for much suffering.
It is part of the in-group/out-group mentality that leads to human oppression of the weak by the strong as in ethic, religious, political, and social conflicts.

( Marc Bekoff )

Our wonderful animal neighbours are made to suffer by the cowards, the morally-deficient, the ignorant, and the mentally-backward people that inhabit, and infest, our planet.

Sending peace and love to animals everywhere.
And to all the good folk that protect them.

Some people will never understand how much I love animals.
But that’s ok.
The animals know.

( Florence Emily Hookins, 1896-1962 )

Don’t let this cruel world make you hard.
Be gentle, be kind, be compassionate, and stay strong.

If we all had empathy, animals would not be exploited and slaughterhouses would not exist.

Awareness is bad for the meat business.
Conscience is bad for the meat business.
Sensitivity to life is bad for the meat business.
Denial, however, the meat business finds indispensable.
( John Robbins )

What noise does a piglet make, and what pain does it feel, when its teeth are pulled out with pliers, without anaesthetic?
The same as you.

Animals often show more gentleness and compassion than many of the ‘human’ creatures that infest the earth.

The cruel, morally-deficient people who profit from the suffering and the death of animals are the Devil’s puppets.
( Rose Winfold )

“Stop complaining” says the farmer.
As the calves are bound and slaughtered.
Never knowing the reason why.

Every argument against being a vegan is an argument in favour of exploitation, pain, suffering, misery, fear, and needless brutal death.

Freedom to live.
This is the right of every animal on earth.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )

We played, we laughed, we had dreams.
We were ripped from the arms of our crying parents.
We may not be human, but we are just children.

You cowards with guns who have murdered my family and friends, I will find you.
Even in your nightmares, I will find you.

We no longer kill heretics to placate vested interests.
But we do kill badgers for that reason.
( John Kay, Financial Times, 13.03.2012 )

They use man-made religions, and exploit the name of God, who has no religion, to justify and excuse the murder of innocent animals.

There is no right way to kill someone who is innocent, and more importantly, doesn’t want to die.
It’s murder.

Animals try to live with nature.
Man tries to change nature.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )

Fostering a dog isn’t a life-time commitment.
It’s a commitment to saving a life.

As long as violence and discrimination toward one group is accepted, violence and oppression toward any group will be accepted.
Killing an animal as an assertion of dominance, whether consciously or sub-consciously, makes discrimination against someone’s gender or sex as an assertion of dominance not normal but common-place.

Cruelty, whether it is directed against human beings or against animals, is not the exclusive province of any one culture or community of people.
( César Chávez )
