Zionism Is A Tool Of British Imperialism Which Needs Palestine For Its Own Purposes.

This article was published in the American left-wing magazine New Masses on February 19, 1935.
It was written by the journalist and filmmaker Robert Gessner and carried the provocative title “Brown Shirts in Zion: Jabotinsky—The Jewish Hitler.”

The Zionist movement is a Jewish nationalist movement aiming at the establishment of a “Jewish National Home in Palestine.”
It dates back to the eighties when as a result of a wave of pogroms in old Russia a movement known as the “Lovers of Zion” was established.
Political zionism, however, as it is represented by the present World Zionist Organisation, dates back to 1897 when the first Zionist world congress took place in Basle, Switzerland, dominated and led by Dr. Theodore Herzl, a noted Austrian journalist.

Dr. Herzl, and his followers as late as 1914 were still striving to obtain a “charter” for Palestine from the Turkish Sultan.
For this purpose Dr. Herzl sought the aid of the ambassadors and cabinet members of the various rulers of pre-war Europe, the Czar, the Kaiser, etc.
A Jewish National Bank was established in order to “buy” Palestine from the Turkish Sultan.

Zionist “diplomacy” went on the rocks with the birth of the Young Turkey movement in 1908 and with the overthrow of the Sultan in 1910.
It was only during the World War, when the British government issued the Balfour Declaration proclaiming Palestine a Jewish National Home in order to win the Jewishmasses to the Allies’ side that the Zionist movement obtained a new lease on life.

The British government, however, generously promised Palestine to the Arabs as well.
As a means of drawing in the Arab masses in its war against Turkey, England assured the Arabs that Palestine would be part of a United Arabistan.
This double dealing has had its consequences in a number of racial outbreaks in Palestine.

The British government, which still holds the League of Nations mandate over Palestine, is seeking to retain the balance of power and to appear as the “protector” now of the Arabs, now of the Jews.
It has been claimed by the Zionists that the outbreaks of August, 1929, when numerous Jews and Arabs were killed, were to a great extent fomented by British agents.
The League of Nations recently made a blunt declaration that Palestine will never becomea Jewish National Home under the mandate.

A section of the Zionist movement, the Revisionists, led by Vladimir Jabotinsky has been accusing the parent Zionist body of playing England’s game in Palestine instead of realising the Herzl objective: the establishment of a Jewish State.
The Revisionists have been urging defiance of Great Britain.
They aim to secure this Jewish State by force, through organiing the Jewish youth into fascist bands.
Jabotinsky recently arrived in the United States in order to gain a favourable hearing for the Revisionist program.

The Jewish members of the revolutionary movement have always fought Zionism as detrimental to the interests of the Jewish masses.
A number of their reasons may be formulated as follows:
Zionism is a tool of British imperialism which needs Palestine for its own purposes.
Zionism is dispossessing the Arab peasants and is conducting a colonisation by conquest with the aid of British bayonets.
No nation can solve its problems by emigrating to another country, even if Palestine were not so small and so thickly populated.
Zionism draws away the attention of the Jewish masses from the problems of the countries where they live.
Zionism separates them from the masses of other nationalities.
As a chauvinist movement it is a breeding ground for fascism.

This Is Fascism Under A Different Flag.
You were taught that Zionism was a noble movement of liberation.
You were taught the lie: “A land without a people for a people without a land.”
But in 1935, Robert Gessner already wrote: “No nation can solve its problems by emigrating to another country, even if Palestine were not so small and its thickly populated.”

He told you the truth then: Palestine was not empty. It was filled with people. People who had lived there for centuries. People who were being pushed aside, silenced, and treated as obstacles to be removed.
You are told today that anyone who points this out is “anti-Semitic.”
That is the biggest lie of all, Robert Gessner was Jewish.

The critics of Zionism in that era were Jewish anti-fascists, socialist Jews, labour Jews, people who saw exactly where this was going and screamed warnings.
They said: “This is not us. This is not our values. This is fascism under a different flag.”
And they were silenced. They were erased. Their warnings were buried.

Look at what happened next.
Jabotinsky’s ideology did not die. It grew.
It inspired the Irgun, the Stern Gang, the violence, the massacres, the expulsion of 1948.
It shaped the laws, the military, the politics of the state that was built on those very same principles: “100% everything, we don’t take no for an answer.”

The U.S. Remained Silent As Israel Attacked And Forced A Charity Organisation That Defended Children In Palestine To Close.

Since its establishment in 1991, one of the most reliable messengers about life for Palestinian children under Israeli occupation had been a group called Defence for Children International-Palestine (DCIP).
But on April 7, 2026, the group ended its operations due to what it said were “challenges resulting from Israel’s targeted criminalisation of Palestinian human rights organisations.”
It’s a testament to the dedication of its staff that DCIP persevered so long.

The Israeli military outlawed DCIP and five other Palestinian human rights and civil society groups in 2021, declaring them “terrorist organisations.”
The military’s charges were bogus, as international human rights groups, the United Nations, and governments that investigated them found, but they were hard to fight because, as is often the case in Israeli military prosecutions, they were based on “secret evidence.”

European states suspended their funding to the group, took more than a year to investigate the Israeli accusations, and finally concluded they were baseless.
A month after the EU concluded its investigation, Israeli forces raided DCIP’s offices in Ramallah, confiscated equipment and clients’ files, and welded the doors shut.
As DCIP noted, the United States remained silent.

It’s not hard to see why DCIP was a target.
Day in, day out, for decades, DCIP has documented Israeli military abuses against children, from arbitrary arrests, torture, coerced confessions, and unfair trials, to the needless use of lethal force.

Temporary Housing Accommodation Is Linked To The Deaths Of Children And Babies.

Living in temporary accommodation has contributed to the deaths of 104 children in England in the past six years, 76 of whom were under the age of one.
Statistics also show there were 64 stillbirths and 27 neonatal deaths involving mothers living in temporary accommodation in the UK in 2024.
Experts say the housing crisis is pushing families into conditions that endanger their lives.

Siobhain McDonagh, the chair of the all-party parliamentary group for households in temporary accommodation, which compiled the data, said she was appalled to see an increase in child deaths linked to temporary accommodation, which has soared in use in recent years.
It is estimated that 135,000 households are living in temporary accommodation in England, including nearly 176,000 children.

The parliamentary group used data from the National Child Mortality Database, which showed that between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2025, 104 children died with temporary accommodation recorded as a contributing factor to their vulnerability, ill-health or death.
Figures also showed that 140 children died with their main residence listed as temporary accommodation between October 2023 and September 2025.
Each of these will be subject to a formal death review process to find out whether temporary accommodation was a contributing factor, so the 104 total could rise further.

An Israeli Embassy Official Was Covertly Working With The Right-Wing Labour Factions To Use Anti-Semitism To Destroy Jeremy Corbyn.

The internal plotting against Corbyn was first highlighted in 2017 by Al Jazeera’s three-part undercover investigation ‘The Israel Lobby’, which showed how an Israeli embassy official, Shai Masot, was covertly working with the rightwing Labour factions to use anti-semitism to destroy the party leader.

Three years later, as Corbyn stepped down, a cache of internal Labour party documents were leaked showing that the party bureaucracy, loyal to the Mandelson wing, conspired to bring about Corbyn’s downfall.
It even prioritised his destruction over winning the closely fought 2017 general election.

Starmer appointed a KC, Martin Forde, to investigate the leak, chiefly, it seems to identify who was responsible and punish them.
Forde would later admit that Starmer’s team had obstructed his work and tried to endlessly delay the report.
But when it was finally published in summer 2022, Forde confirmed what was already obvious: that the Labour right had waged a dirty factional war against Corbyn and the left of the party, weaponising anti-semitism to tar them.

Months later, Al Jazeera would air a second, four-part investigation, ‘The Labour Files’, showing how the party’s right wing, loyal to Mandelson and McSweeney, purged the party’s left wing based in most cases on false accusations, fabrications, misrepresentations and smears.
The documentary fully justified one victim of those purges describing the past few years in Labour as a “criminal conspiracy against its members”.

All of this happened unreported by the media.
The revelation in ‘The Israel Lobby’ documentary that Labour had been infiltrated by an Israeli spy with the active collusion of sections of its members and MPs to take down a potential prime minister provoked no political or media debate.
The follow-up disclosures in the leaked Labour internal review, the Forde Report and ‘The Labour Files’ have similarly dropped off the radar, even as the story they tell is the only way to make sense of the serial falls of McSweeney, Mandelson, Simons and, soon, Starmer.
