Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight.
A country where 40% of adults can’t cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money.
A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive.
A country where medical debt is the number one cause of bankruptcy.
A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.

You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth.
More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea.
The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven’t even been convicted of anything.
They’re just too poor to make bail.
Your life expectancy is going backwards.
You’re the only developed nation where that’s happening.

Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba’s.
Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker’s stock to your mates.
Your minimum wage hasn’t moved in 15 years.

And you’re calling Greenland poorly run?
Greenland has universal healthcare.  Free education.
One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world.
Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick.
Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.

The People Taken Hostage By Israel From The Global Sumud Flotilla Were Subjected To Physical And Sexual Abuse.

A Scot who was detained on the Global Sumud Flotilla has told of his ‘frightening’ experience, but says it’s nothing compared to what Palestinians endure every day.
Hughie Stirling, from Ullapool, was travelling with the flotilla in an attempt to break the Israeli naval blockade and deliver aid to Gaza .

The flotilla was intercepted by the Israeli navy and its activists detained on a prison ship, with Israel‘s far-right security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posting footage of himself taunting the detainees.
The Global Sumud Flotilla said in a press conference that detainees had been subjected to physical and sexual abuse.

Hughie Stirling said:

“It was the first time that the Israeli army had intercepted one of the peace flotillas in daylight, so that says a lot about their brazen attitude to breaking international law, taking people prisoner from international waters.”

“All we wanted to do was highlight the blockade, which has already been recognised as breaking international law, and bring some aid to Gaza.”

“They came on board shouting and pointing their guns at us, we were sitting in the cockpit with our hands up. We didn’t want them to think we were reaching for a weapon or anything like that.”

“They took us to the prison ship, they took us one by one and tied our hands with cable ties.”

“As soon as we got on board it was quite a violent scenario where we were bent double with our arms bent up behind our backs.”

“We were marched into a small area and thrown onto the metal deck, they pushed and punched us shouting, get down! get down!”

“We were put in a kind of enclosed yard on the boat surrounded by metal containers like you see on the back of lorries and basically imprisoned there for two-and-a-half days, not knowing where we were going.”

“Every now and then the soldiers would come and rough us up, or throw these flash bombs in at us.”

“We had hardly enough water and a few bits of dry bread were thrown in every now and then, but nothing else.”

“At night there wasn’t enough room to lie down in these containers, there wasn’t anything to lie on and no blankets or anything, they provided a couple of toilets but no toilet paper and nowhere to wash your hands.”

“A lot of people were injured, there were people who were hurt quite badly so we were trying trying to help them as best we could, trying to give them somewhere to lie down.”

Former First Minister Humza Yousaf said: “If this is how they treat Europeans under the full glare of the media spotlight, can you imagine how they brutalise Palestinians who are in their jails, some of them children, who are hidden away from cameras?”
