The Forgotten Words and the Choices We Made. Exploring the tension between the traditional narratives…
Every day in captivity a little piece of the soul dies.
The tears go unseen.
The cries go unanswered.
In order to keep a true perspective of one’s importance, everyone should have a dog that will worship him and a cat that will ignore him.

Please, Take Me Home With You ..
My breeder claims to be ‘reputable’ and ‘responsible’, but he sold me to a very irresponsible person who hit me and dumped me.
Now I am sitting on death row, and my breeder is not coming to save my life.
He is busy breeding more of me.
Please get me out of here and don’t buy from breeders.
I promise to love you and be faithful to you for the rest of my life.
Please.
I beg you.
Take me home with you.
I don’t want to die.
I have looked into the eyes of many animals.
Each time I get a special feeling.
A feeling quite different from human eye contact.
It is a unique feeling.
It touches my heart.
It affects my soul.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )
I would rather cry watching them leave our home to live a life of happiness in a loving home, than cry because no one came to help them, and they died alone, frightened and sad in a shelter.
The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man.
( Charles Darwin )
No room for a foster dog?
The shelter has no room either, but they will kill to make space.
Imagine living there.
Waiting for help that never comes.
The average dog is a nicer person than the average person.
( Andrew A. Rooney )
You think it’s sad looking into my cage?
Imagine how I feel looking out.
Euthanasia only concerns death that is in the interest of a human or non-human.
Death is never in the interest of a healthy animal.
When a ‘shelter’ kills a healthy animal, it is not euthanasia.
It is just plain killing.
And it is wrong.
( Gary L. Francione )
I don’t judge others.
I don’t hate.
I don’t discriminate.
I don’t care about money.
I don’t hold grudges.
I do know how to love unconditionally, and that’s all I want in return.
I am a fur-ever friend.
If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans.
( James Herriot )
Dogs have a way of finding the people that need them.
Filling an emptiness we didn’t even realise we had.
I don’t believe in the concept of hell, but if I did, I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.
( Gary Larson )
Any argument for killing the wild animals and birds we share this earth with is null and void.
We have no right nor authority to exploit, control or interfere with Nature.
Nature is quite capable of looking after itself.
Its complexity is beyond the simple minds of humans.
You know what I like best about people?
Their pets.
The dangerous temptation of wildlife films is that they can lull us into thinking we can get by without the original models.
That we might not need animals in the flesh.
( Doug Peacock )
Who says your soulmate has to have two legs?
You will never understand or be able to imagine the pain and the suffering you inflicted on innocent animals until the same is done to you.
That’s why I’m here.
( Karma )
The greatest cruelty is our casual blindness to the unnecessary suffering we inflict on animals.
You don’t love an animal because they are perfect.
You love them in spite of the fact that they are not perfect.
( Florence Emily Hookins )
A dog may only be here for a part of your life.
But for him, you are his whole life.
The dog is a gentleman.
I hope to go to his heaven, not man’s.
( Mark Twain )
You will never walk alone.
Because your dog will always be with you.
We murder, cut up, and eat gentle, helpless animals simply because they cannot prevent us from doing so.
The furs from beautiful animals are used to cover the inelegant bodies of thoughtless and, for the most part, ugly women.
( Rose Winfold )
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
When I look into the eyes of an animal, I do not see an animal.
I see a living being.
I see a friend.
I feel a soul.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )
Rescuers Are Angels ..
A breeder didn’t come to save me.
An Animal Rescuer did.
The perfect place they found for me.
The home where I could live.
Secure and safe and happy.
With joy and love to get and give.
The Angels smile, and off they go.
To save another soul.
Yes, rescuers are angels.
You cannot see their wings.
They keep them neatly folded.
As they do their caring things.
Animal cruelty is one of the most unfortunate and barbaric demonstrations of human beings manipulating ill conceived notions of ‘power’ over other species.
( Ian Somerhalder )
Not all homes should have a dog.
But all dogs should have a home.
My mission is to rescue.
My dream is that one day I won’t have to.
The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them.
That’s the essence of inhumanity.
( George Bernard Shaw )
Tell folk to stop killing cats and dogs and everybody loves you.
Tell people to stop torturing and killing chickens, cows, pigs or sheep, and suddenly you are a self-righteous little shit that needs to mind your own business.
Every piece of ‘meat’ you eat begins with an animal begging for its life.
No man has the right to take the right to live.
Standing up for the protection of other animals requires time, love and courage.
Ignoring them requires nothing.
One day we will communicate and understand the languages of all animals.
We will shed tears of joy, but they will be mixed with tears of shame.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )
My human children, please stop torturing and killing my animal children.
( God )
God gave humans dominion over the animals.
To care for and tend to.
Not to harm or abuse.
Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man.
Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures.
( Dalai Lama )
Dogs Dumped By Recession-Hit Owners ..
Tens of thousands of sick and injured dogs are being abandoned on the streets by their recession-hit owners.
Animal charities claim the number of dumped dogs is soaring because families cannot afford vets’ bills which can run to hundreds or sometimes thousands of pounds.
George Rockingham, from Pact, said: “Until more is done to bring in new licensing or enforce existing licensing it will continue to be a problem.
There are just too many dogs being bred – especially Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
People are breeding them to make money, yet licensing laws aren’t being enforced”.
Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living beings, humanity will not find peace.
( Albert Schweitzer )
We live in the ocean.
The ocean is our home.
Humans need to stop invading our home.
You have not been invited.
You are not welcome.
Humans bring pain to the bodies of animals, but are unable to harm their souls.
This is what gives me some comfort.
( Florence Emily Hookins )
A dog doesn’t care whether you are rich or poor, smart or stupid, pretty or ugly.
If you care for them, they will give you their heart.
When we understand our purpose here, we will respect and care for all life.
( Anthony Douglas Williams )
The UK Conservative Government support the murder of foxes for fun.
They support the murder of deer because there are too many.
And they support the murder of badgers because it’s cheaper than vaccination.
It is just like man’s vanity and impertinence to call an animal dumb because it is dumb to his dull perceptions.
( Mark Twain )
The main source of both human and animal suffering is our leaders and politicians and those with power and authority.
Their greed, arrogance, selfishness, and obsession with wealth, are the cause for the pain, the hardship, and the misery of good people and innocent, helpless gentle creatures.
Listen carefully.
Animals do have a voice.
It may not have words, but it does have feelings.
( Florence Emily Hookins )
One of the most evil curses in the world today are the cowards that hide behind religion, culture and tradition, and who use the name of God to excuse and justify the murder of innocent people and the slaughter of helpless, gentle animals.
The illusion that the treatment of animals has no moral significance, is a darkness that clouds the soul of many humans.

Is Pet-Food Killing Our Dogs ? ..
The pet food industry is dominated by a handful of multinational corporations and is estimated globally to be worth £30 billion a year.
Profits are maintained by using the cheapest possible ingredients that regulations will allow.
But the ‘ingredients’ section on most pet-food packaging is notoriously vague and misleading.
Manufacturers don’t really want you to know what’s in there.
It’s not surprising.
Our dogs are being fed on the waste by-products of industrial grain processing, vegetable pulp (and possibly woodchip), a ground-down mix of non-nutritious animal parts, along with used fats and oils, possibly from restaurant fryers and industrial food-processing units.
This mixture is preserved with powerful antioxidants banned in the UK for human consumption and linked to liver and kidney damage, stomach tumours and cancer.
In North America, ‘mammalian meat and bone meal’, a key animal component in pet food, has been shown to include the ground-up remains of dead cats and dogs – flea collars, name tags, microchips and all.
Vets agree that a diet of processed pet-food was linked to many chronic ailments and degenerate conditions.
Humans use their ‘power’ to say which animals are deprived of freedom.
Humans use their ‘power’ to say which animals are killed for food or fun.
And the innocent, helpless animals cannot prevent this happening.
The choice is very simple.
If you can’t love a dog, or a cat, like a family member..
Don’t get one.
( Florence Emily Hookins )
All animals and creatures are precious and important.
And all deserve a life as God and Nature intended.
Never, never be afraid to do what is right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake.
Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.
( Martin Luther King Jr )
Animals love and care and feel and dream and hope and wonder.
They worry, they have problems, they have fears, they suffer pain, they become ill.
Just as humans do.
Dear Lord, keep the animals safe today.
May angels guard them while they play.
And keep the evil humans at bay.
( Florence Emily Hookins )
That was an awesome message wrote, and I agree a dog is the best friend a person could want. I have a little chorkie and I would hurt someone over her.
Thanks to all of you who rescue these poor animals. I am not up to taking care of a dog, at this time. When I am, I will foster an elderly and mistreated dog to give it all the love and kindness that they deserve.
God Bless you all for what you do. I hope this baby has a home and is loved.
Dogs are meant to be loved and cherished, they do not need to be locked up in cages, or be made to have one litter after another in unsanitary puppy mills. These dogs and other animals deserve to have a loving home forever.
