I Adopted Your Dog Today.
The one you left at the pound.
The one you had for ten years
And no longer wanted around.
Did you know he’s lost weight?
Did you know he’s scared and depressed
And seems to have lost all faith?
He had fleas and a little cold.
I guess you don’t care what shape he’s in.
You abandoned him, I’m told.
Were you having a baby or moving away?
Did you suddenly develop allergies?
Or was there no reason he couldn’t stay?
He doesn’t play or even eat much.
I guess he’s very sad inside
And it will take him time to trust.
I shall now give him all he will need,
So he can forget your nasty, selfish deed.

For All The Innocent Animals.
Who have lost their lives because of cruel humans.
You have crossed over to a better place.
One with no pain, no fear, no suffering, no misery.
One free from cruelty, abuse, torture and neglect.
One free from abandonment, betrayal and loneliness.
You are free now.. Free to run and play and love and live.
Rest in peace, you sweet, precious souls.
Our lives are less without your presence.
You will never be forgotten.

An Act Of Treason.
Abuse of any kind makes my stomach turn.
But abusing poor animals is a real concern.
We are supposed to be intelligent, be conscious and humane.
Or are we just mere animals, with a lager brain.
Some of us have no respect for any form of life.
They abuse their children, and they abuse their wife.
Man’s best friend is turned upon, and beaten without reason.
Animal cruelty and abuse is an act of treason.

Put Your Paw In My Hand.
I will never let it go.
Put your trust in me.
I will always keep you from harm.
I will never leave you.
I will always love you.

The Abandoned Dog.
They dumped it on the lonely road.
Then like a streak they sped.
And as along the way I strode
I thought that it was dead.
And then I saw that yelping pup
Rise, race to catch them up.
You know how silly wee dogs are,
It thought they were in fun.
Trying to overtake their car
I saw it run and run.
But as they faster, faster went,
It stumbled, sore and spent.
I found it prone upon the way
Of life was little token.
As limply in the dust it lay
I thought its heart was broken.
Then one dim eye it opened and
It sought to like my hand.
Of course I took it gently up
And brought it to my wife
Who loves all dogs, and now that pup
Shares in our happy life.
Yet how I curse the bastards who
Its good luck never knew!

If We Remain Silent.
If we remain silent about their pain
The assholes who call themselves ‘farmers’
Will keep abusing and killing them
And making out it’s ‘humane’.
( R S Hutchison )

Hunting Is Not ‘Sport’.
Frenzied hounds are running loose,
With blood-thirsty idiots dressed in red.
The idiots mounted on horses quickly galloping,
Innocent animals will soon be dead.
When will they cease to murder for ‘sport’?
Nature should be left alone to take its course.
Not destroyed and killed by idiots on a horse.
( Eileen Hutchison, 1926-2008 )

The World Is Whole Again.
When sad she brings the thunder
And her tears, they bring the rain
When ill she feeds a poison
To us all to feel her pain
Her smiles they bring the sunshine
And the laughter and the wind
And the birds they go on singing
And the world is whole again.
( Alethea Kontis )

Can’t You Feel ?
It must stop, it must end
What we do to our animal friends.
Can’t you see, can’t you feel?
Their pain and suffering is truly real.
We must not continue to make them cry
We must not let them suffer and die.
( Rose Winfold )
