Birds In Serious Decline.
Birds that call Arizona‘s desert ecosystem home, including the state’s iconic cactus wren, are in serious decline, according to a sweeping new conservation report.
Birds are indicators of the overall health of their habitats and signal early warnings of broader trouble.
If these habitats can’t support birdlife, they likely can’t sustain other wildlife, or even humans, for long.
Nearly a quarter of the 31 arid-land birds included in the analysis are considered “tipping point” species, meaning they could vanish without urgent conservation action.
This includes the sagebrush sparrow, black-chinned sparrow and Pinyon Jay, which can be found in parts of Arizona.
It’s not just Arizona.
Researchers tracked species nationwide and found declines almost everywhere, even among birds once thought resilient, like waterfowl.
Roughly one-third of U.S. bird species, 229 in total, are now classified as high or moderate conservation concerns.

Walk in kindness toward the Earth and every living being.
Without kindness and compassion for all of Mother Nature’s creatures, there can be no true joy, no internal peace, no happiness.
Happiness flows from caring for all sentient beings as if they were your own family, because in essence they are.
We are all connected to each other and to the Earth.
Horrific Suffering Of Chickens On ‘Humane’ UK Farm.
Every week, Farmer Focus (formerly known as Shenandoah Valley Organic) kills an estimated 600,000 chickens and sells their bodies as “certified humane.”
According to an inside source:
Due to rough handling during “catch and transport”, chickens’ wings and legs were bruised, broken, and dislocated at rates far beyond what the chicken industry considers “acceptable.”
The birds are “slammed” and caught in cage trays during transport.
Chickens arrived at the slaughterhouse stressed, flapping, and struggling, some even jumped off the conveyor belt in an attempt to escape.
Loud music playing in the “live hang” area further stressed the birds.
Once shackled, desperate, dangling birds are plunged into an electrified bath that’s supposed to knock them out instantly.
But according to the whistleblower:
The salt solutions (needed to conduct electricity) were poorly maintained.
The conduction plates, metal bars that carry the electric charge, were worn out for months and only replaced before a scheduled audit.
The stunning voltage was not properly managed.
The bath was often overfilled, which shocked and distressed chickens but failed to stun them effectively.
The overfilled bath even resulted in chickens being submerged to their shoulders, and panicked birds slowly drowned to death.
Birds flailed as they approached the automatic kill blade, and instead of delivering a quick slash that caused rapid blood loss and death, the blade struck the necks, faces, and even the wings of panicking chickens.
Back-up employees are supposed to manually slice the throats of birds who survive the automatic blade.
But the workers were not properly trained and failed to deliver a cut that would kill the birds quickly.
In many cases, bleeding birds, still alert, arrived at the “head puller.”
This machine ripped their heads from their bodies, finally ending their prolonged, horrific suffering.
The whistleblower told PETA the company “knowingly” overstocked massive sheds with chickens.
The Farmer Focus facility itself was filthy and in disarray.
The ceilings were buckling and leaking continuously.
Leaks dripped onto the conveyor belts and chicken carcasses that would be packaged and sold to consumers.
The facility had severe, unaddressed rodent and termite infestations.
Mice were regularly observed in production and storage areas.
The drains throughout the plant were routinely backed up and not cleaned.

Shooting And Killing Birds For Fun In Canada.
A “crow and magpie shoot” event in Manitoba province, Canada, that’s been the subject of numerous complaints, is legal.
The “killing birds for fun” event is hosted by the Woodlands & District Wildlife Association.
A killing contest where cowards and creeps are encouraged to shoot and kill as many crows and magpies as they can within a specific area.
Crows and magpies belong to the corvid family, a group of highly-intelligent birds.
Ravens also belong to this group, but unlike crows and magpies, they are protected under the province’s Wildlife Act.

Appalling Abuse Of Animals In Egypt.
PETA Asia investigations at Egypt’s top tourist sites have documented the appalling abuse of animals.
Camels and horses used for tourist rides at popular sites in Egypt are being beaten with batons, hit in the testicles, and denied rest, while dead animals are dumped like rubbish.
Despite its promises, the Egyptian government has done nothing to stop the abuse of animals at these sites.
Tourists who pay to take horse-carriage or camel rides keep these operations in business.
If you’re planning to visit Egypt, don’t take one of these rides.

Lions And Tigers In Captivity Have Died From Bird Flu.
A panther, three lions, and 47 tigers have died at various zoos in Vietnam due to an outbreak of the H5N1 bird flu virus.
In a matter of only a few weeks in August and September 2024, these animals were lost to a preventable disease, raising alarming questions about their living conditions and the safety protocols in place at these facilities.
Around 385 tigers are held in captivity in Vietnam, with the vast majority (310 animals) being at privately-owned zoos and “farms.”
That includes privately-run facilities like My Quynh safari park, one of the locations where some of these animals died.
Animals also perished at the Vuon Xoai zoo.
The deaths of these big cats represent a failure in our responsibility to protect wildlife.
These animals deserve habitats that provide not only physical care but also the emotional well-being that is essential for their survival.
Similar things have happened before.
Back in 2004, at Thailand’s largest farm for breeding exotic animals, dozens of tigers contracted bird flu and either died or were killed as a result.
These tragic losses are preventable.
The World Health Organisation has warned of increasing infections in mammals caused by influenza viruses like H5N1, indicating that we are at a tipping point where inaction could lead to even more losses.

Pigs Beaten And Abused At UK Farm.
Supermarket food supplier Cranswick has suspended operations at one of its farms after footage emerged showing workers abusing piglets.
The Hull-based firm said “the team” at Northmoor Farm near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, UK, had been suspended, adding that “an urgent and thorough investigation” was under way.
Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco have suspended use of the farm.
The video footage was filmed by Animal Justice Project (AJP), who said workers were filmed holding piglets by their hind legs and slamming them to the ground, using a banned method of killing the animals known as “piglet thumping”.
Other footage, first reported by the Mail on Sunday newspaper, showed the botched killing of a sow that left the animal screaming.
A sow was also shown being beaten with metal bars.
AJP claimed a worker who failed to kill a sow using a bolt gun told an undercover worker: “Don’t let nobody see you doing like what we did.”

The Backward Victoria Government, Australia, Allow The Mass Killing Of Dingoes By Trapping, Poisoning Or Shooting.
The Victorian government in Australia made a reckless decision that puts dingoes at risk of extinction.
A government order has extended the right to kill dingoes across large parts of eastern Victoria until 2028, threatening the survival of this keystone species.
The harmful, despicable order classifies dingoes as “unprotected wildlife” and permits their killing through trapping, poisoning, or shooting.
This extension of lethal control rights against dingoes, classified as threatened under state laws, undermines years of conservation efforts.
Dingoes play a critical ecological role in maintaining the balance of nature by controlling populations of other species, which helps to preserve biodiversity.
While the government’s claim that this is a response to livestock protection, the actual losses to dingoes are minuscule.

Currently It Is Legal For British Perverts To Travel Abroad To Kill Animals And Bring Back Trophies.
Shocking images in a new exhibition to be shown to British MPs to highlight the import ban include bear paw slippers and bottle openers made from lions’ paws by heartless cowards who call themselves “trophy hunters”.
Footstools made from elephant feet and slippers made from bear paws are just some of the sickening products made as a result of despicable ‘trophy hunting’ holidays.
Images of the gruesome and senseless souvenirs will be part of an exhibition shown to MPs to highlight why a UK import ban on hunting trophies, a Labour Government manifesto commitment, is desperately needed.
Currently it is legal for British sickos and perverts to travel abroad to kill animals and bring back trophies.

The Primary Purpose Of U.S. Wildlife Services Is To Kill Animals On Behalf Of The Meat And Dairy Industries.
An obscure arm of the federal government killed almost 2 million wild animals last year (2024) using a variety of methods, including firearms, poisons, and traps that ensnare an animal’s neck, feet, or entire body.
Carried out by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s euphemistically named Wildlife Services department, the 2024 body count included over 2,000 green iguanas, almost 1,700 red-tailed hawks, and 614 armadillos, according to recently published data.
The sub-agency even unintentionally killed one golden eagle, a species protected by federal law.
The agency’s Wildlife Services program kills wild animals primarily to protect farm animal feed from hungry birds, and cattle and sheep from predators like coyotes and wolves.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has killed 58 million wild animals since 2004.
But four species alone — coyotes, European starlings, feral hogs, and pigeons — accounted for over 75% of the carnage, and they have something important in common.
They all come into conflict with animal agriculture, and one of the primary purposes of Wildlife Services is to kill animals on behalf of the meat and dairy industries.

Like us, animals feel love, joy, fear and pain, but they cannot grasp the spoken word.
It is our obligation to speak on their behalf ensuring their well-being and lives are respected and protected.
